Hello and Welcome!
I am happy to announce that I will be the new Learning Support Teacher, and Grade 8 Computer and PAA teacher at Midale Central School.
Originally from Estevan, I graduated high school in 2005 from ECS. From there I attended the South East Regional College where I took my first year of University classes, and then moved onto Campus in Regina to complete the remaining three years of my program. I convocated from the University of Regina in June of 2009 with a major in Secondary Business Education and a minor in Special Education.
I have been asked numerous times why education? The rationale for this decision is complicated, but stay with me. When I was in grade twelve I had an extremely hard time trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I knew that I had a love for business and that I enjoyed working with children and enjoyed the whole aspect of teaching. When I looked at the course calendar for the University I saw that there was Business Education, so I thought why not do both and I met in the middle. Granted, they are two different areas, I still had the chance to take my business electives and my education classes.
As I said above I have had and still do have an extreme interest in business. My parents had previously owned part of a small electronics store in Estevan calledNew Image Electronics. This is what really sparked the business side of me. The fact that you are your own boss and are in a challenging, demanding and competitive area is amazing, plus the sense of accomplishment that you feel at the year end is one that is quite fulfilling. The interesting part is that this is the same thing that I hear teachers feel and are involved in as well. I think I made a wise choice. I like to be involved and enjoy helping the communities in which I grow. When I was in high school and first year back in Estevan I was on the Downtown Action Association and and executive member with the Business Improvement District. Throughout my time at University I served on the Business Education Students’ Society as Social Director, Professional Development Director, President and Past President. I presently serve on the executive of the Saskatchewan Business Teachers’ Association as Vice President, and have previously held positions as Student Representative, and Member at Large.
In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, whether it is watching the football or hockey game or just relaxing and talking, I like my spare time and make sure that I take advantage of it all the time that I can.
If you need to contact me at all, feel free to do so by email at joshua.leblanc@cornerstonesd.ca
